About: Royal Eye Infirmary

Worried that I had a retinal tear, was advised to seek urgent advice. Phoned the main hospital, asking to be put through to the REI and was immediately impressed with the calming professional manner of the person who took my call. Was promised a call back 'later that morning' but was called by a nurse within 15 minutes. After patiently listening to my concerns she made an appointment to be seen just after lunch the same day. Had all the necessary scans and lengthy examination before having my problem explained (I have what is known as PVD, not a retinal tear). I cannot thank the staff enough for the way my case was handled in these somewhat difficult times. I was in and out of the unit in a little over an hour. Thank you everyone!
