"Compassion and swift treatment"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Stroke Unit (Ward 11)

(as a relative),

Our Mum and sister was rushed by emergency ambulance to University Hospital Wishaw following a suspected stroke .

The Emergency Department team were waiting on her on arrival and she was taken immediately into resus . Following assessment by Patrick the Dr in charge and Niamh the stroke nurse she was the was taken to the CT scanner and a stroke was confirmed . She was then rushed to ward 11 for thrombolysis . From arrival at the hospital ED  to transfer to ward 11 was around 20 minutes . I can’t thank the ED Sarah the ED Nurse and ward 11 staff ( Niamh and SCN Sharon ) enough for their calm, professional care, compassion and swift treatment .

They are amazing teams and from the bottom of our hearts we can’t thank them enough.

The long road of rehabilitation now starts .

Dear Brie33

Thank you for taking time to share your mums' experience when attending University Hospital Wishaw.

This must have been such an anxious time for you and your mum. I am happy to hear your mum is on the road to recovery and delighted you felt the care and treatment given by our staff was first class.

Our staff work extremely hard to deliver high standards of care and compassion to all patients, your kind words will encourage all staff especially staff members named in your story.

It will be my pleasure to ensure all staff are duly informed of your positive feedback.

All the very best to your mum on her road to recovery.

Best wishes

Jean
