"Womb lining biopsy"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services

(as a service user),

I had a womb lining biopsy and camera investigation at ARI. On arriving at the clinic, the first person we saw was the receptionist, not overly friendly, certainly not given a friendly welcome. The other nurses we met (my partner was with me) on the way to the waiting room were very friendly and helpful. My appointment was 25 minutes late, but the consultant herself came through for me and apologised for the wait. I was immediately put at ease, she explained everything to me and answered all my questions. Two nurses were also in the room setting up for the procedure. Now to the procedure, I was reassured I was in control and if the pain got to much I had to tell her to stop, then other options would be discussed. Well not going to lie it was the most uncomfortable and painful experience but bareable and only lasted about a minute altogether. I was told of the possible after effects, bleeding, cramping and pain, of which I experienced only a tiny bit of bleeding. I cannot praise the consultant and her staff enough, they made a horrible experience bareable. I have to have 2 polyps removed but am confident I can handle that, with their expertise.

Good afternoon irregularityyj36

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback following your recent visit to our clinic. I was disappointed to hear that you did not receive the initial welcome that we strive to achieve in NHS Grampian and will look into this further on your behalf. However, it was a delight to read of your positive experience with our clinical staff and how they put you at ease through what was a painful procedure.

I wish you well in your recovery and will feedback your comments to the whole team.

Kind regards

Alice Ritchie
