I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage just before Christmas and my partner and I had to visit EPU several times over the festive period.
When you receive devastating news it’s hard to imagine how anything can make things better, but every single member of staff we met were unfalteringly kind, compassionate and patient. At times it was obvious the department was extremely busy and under a lot of pressure, but the quality of care and the humanity they brought to their jobs was incredible.
Having previously felt let down by other maternity services, I know how easy it can be for professionals under pressure to lose their sense of humanity and become impatient and dismissive when patients are at their most vulnerable. Other departments could learn a lot from EPU.
"Unfalteringly kind staff"
