"Rude receptionist"

About: Northwick Park Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

In early January my mother in law had a head injury and she went to UCC receptionist to get registered. The waiting time was 3 hours and still she was not called so we took her back home.

The following day in the early morning we took her back to UCC in NPH and got her registered again. There were hardly 5-6 people in the waiting room so we thought her turn would come soon. After 2 hours of waiting she was told there was no doctor. The receptionist at UCC was rude not only my mother in law but to everyone waiting in the room. They said very rudely you can leave if you want we can’t help anymore other than registering patients on screen.

They looked like they were inexperienced in handling patients, but I feel they need to be taught how to reply calmly and respectfully. Patients are in pain and get irritated easily. We do understand there is a lot of waiting time.

I would appreciate if the receptionist could talk calmly and respectfully.

Thanks

Dear Sir / Madam

I am sorry to read this, sounds like a very difficult experience. LNWH does not manage the Urgent Care Centre at Northwick Park Hospital. It is managed by Greenbrook but we will of course pass your feedback on to them.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

Kind Regards,

Emma Calnan – Patient Experience Officer
