"Amazing inpatient experience "

About: Royal Preston Hospital

I recently have a craniotomy at Royal preston due to a tunour being found , now at beginning of the process as an outpatient under neurology my care wasn't exceptional to be honest, I was disappointed as an outpatient but saying this the staff are under immense pressure and when actually seeing them they were lovely face to face its just difficult to have neuro review over the phone , however once referred to neurosurgical team my care was outstanding , the surgeon had me in for an appointment very quickly and booked me in for surgery as soon as his appointments allowed, I sadly fell poorly so had to change surgery dates , and the waiting list team were so kind and friendly , as well as my surgeon and his team.. once admitted under the DOSAA unit I deal with some caring nurses and HCAs they were so lovely , I I had a chat with with aneasthatist who was amazing !! And truly put me at ease , My consultant and his registrar went above and beyond their job roles and I'm so thankful for them the Odp who collected me was so kind , I don't remember the surgery due to being asleep but upon waking in the PACU unit I have the utmost respect for the amount of care and compassion and friendliness I received there ! Every nurse was brilliant and the doctor who had to check on me due to Nystagmus was wonderful I felt safe and at ease ( which is difficult due to working in the hospital I hate being there as a patient ) I then was admitted to the neurosurgical ward 2c where again my care was absolutely outstanding, due to the pressures they would have been short staffed but you would never had noticed , they were always checking on me , I was even told off due to being too independent haha, I dealt with wonderful nurses , HCAs and a fantastic student nurse who the trust is lucky to have .. my blood pressure dropped in the night and they were constantly monitoring and giving me fluids , at the end I dealt with an physiotherapist, occupational therapist and some other specialists to ensure I was safe to go home and again they were wonderful , the only part of my care which I would say I didn't 100 percent agree with was once I was able to be discharged I was sent to the discharge lounge where it was absolutely full ! Like no chairs available so sat with 3 different people at a table and didn't feel very covid safe but again I understand sue to pressured and need of the beds .. despite this I would still hundred prevent recommend royal preston for care , and I'm so thankful for all the staff members I came in contact with , including cleaners ,porters ,chefs ,absolutely everyone.
