I reached the magic age of 60 years and shortly after receiving my birthday cards through the post I also received a stool sample kit from the hospital asking me kindly to participate which of course as a man (yes as a man I can say that) I didn't want to and in a blind panic put the request to one side. A full year later after receiving a reminder I plucked up the courage to submit it.unfortunately I had a positive test and I was one of the unlucky 1 out 100 but let's be fair if it was a winning raffle ticket I woludn't have whinged!
i have had 5 procedures now and 2 adenomas (large polyps) removed and a few smaller polyps also removed with no pain or discomfort at all.
The very nature of the procedure was embarassing at first but only to me,I have overcome my fear and now no longer fear the unknown.
my health has improved and my life has been saved by the wonderful Doctors and nurses and I am eternally grateful for their support and for all the NHS staff who work tirelessly to support us all. Please take the few minutes to send off your sample don't leave things to chance ,If you need a procedure take it,good luck to you all and have a safe and healthy new year.
