"Facilities and staff all lovely"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Daisy Paediatric Ward Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

My child was admitted to Daisy Hill Hospital via A&E with bronchiolitis.

Our experience in A&E was great. All the staff were really good.

Up on the Daisy Children's Ward everything again has been fine. The facilities are all absolutely lovely. All the staff have been absolutely lovely.

The only real problem that I have had which I think needs to be raised at a high level is that if you are not a breastfeeding mother you do not get any food. Parents are tired and anxious enough as it is and no food makes it worse and I really do not want to leave my child to go and get some. The current policy on this really needs to be reviewed.

Other than this, everything else has been absolutely fine.

Dear mineralth67 thank you for taking time to share your experience with us.

Unfortunately the situation around food provision for parents/carers is going to be with us for some time due to infection control measures that are in place.

Whilst we do review this situation on an ongoing basis I will share your comments with senior management for further consideration.

I hope your child is improving.

Kind Regards

Bernie
