"Street Triage Nottingham"

About: Adult Mental Health Services - Community (County) / Broxtowe & Hucknall Local Mental Health Team (LMHT) Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Street Triage

(as a service user),

I was feeling suicidal. Had made comments of ending my life to friends and family. As I did not know where to turn too. I was located by officers. Who offered the triage service. I was hesitant as never engaged with mental health services previously. But I bit the bullet and agreed to speak to them. I then met an officer named Amanda and a nurse named Nigel. They both listened to my problems and was able to get a lot of things of my chest. Covid has had a big impact on my life and at home. But Nigel was able to signpost me and give me all the advice I needed. Amanda also reassured by repeating the plan. They were able to write a letter to my Gp which helped to get me an appointment which I usually struggle with and now engaging with talking therapies. Thank you Triage team.

Dear Harry1203

I love to read posts like this, thank you for taking the time to share your story. I am glad you "bit the bullet" and engaged with talking to Nigel and Amanda.Very often people can bottle things up, it takes courage to speak about problems and issues that can get you down.I am glad you were signposted in the right direction and you are now engaged with Talking Therapies.

I will share your feedback with the team and particularly Nigel and Amanda.

I wish you well with your "talking" and your journey of recovery.

Best wishes

Alison Harrison Service Manager Street Triage Team
