"Normally a good practice but not today "

About: Assertive Outreach - Oxford Centre

I’ve been to this facility more than once and the nurses have always been so supportive and gave great treatment. However, today I experienced an awful consultation with a nurse who from the minute I entered the room I could sense she couldn’t be bothered with me. She was rude and told me to go private and ‘this is the NHS after all’. I felt there was no empathy, no support, no care. I left the surgery in floods of tears. I will now have to waste time from another practitioner and my own time by getting a further appointment as I didn’t get to discuss all of my issues as the member of staff made me feel like I couldn’t. She made medical assumptions about my health without asking me questions to reach her conclusions. I really don’t understand why these individuals go into a healthcare profession when they don’t care about the well-being of their patients. They just want us to go away and get out of their site. I was very upset the rest of the day and I now feel like I’m such a nuisance to the health service for going and talking about my issues. It puts me off seeking any more advice as I now feel like my issues are petty and not worth anybody’s time. I’m very upset with the treatment I received today. Normally the nurses I have seen here have been lovely. I’m disappointed.
