I suffered a stroke on 19/11 and was taken by ambulance to the stroke unit. From the moment I arrived the staff were incredible. They were reassuring and kind even though I was terrified. I was paralysed down one side and my speech was affected which I was worried would be permanent. They arranged for me to have a thrombectomy to clear the clot from my brain and this has meant that I have not been left permanently disabled. This treatment is a game changer and I feel very lucky that I could have it. The team who did the thrombectomy were amazing and I am forever in their debt for saving my quality of life. All the staff who work on the stroke unit were all incredible. They were kind, compassionate, professional and very knowledgeable. I knew that I was in safe hands and was reassured by how much they care about their patients. I felt very lucky to live near the rvi and to have access to such a brilliant hospital and staff who are all a credit to the nhs and their professions. Thank you for everything.
"Amazing staff"
