"Lack of MH support"

About: Barnet, Enfield And Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust / Adult mental health Barnet, Enfield And Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust / Inpatient mental health care

(as the patient),

I don't even know where to begin...

I was first referred to BEH mental health trust in April of 2021 by my GP and the care (or lack thereof) I have received is beyond appalling. I have missed my antidepressants many times because they failed to give me the prescribed medication. A few times, when I told them that I would like help for my mental illness, I was told to go to church and pray and despite my GP pressuring them to help me, I have yet to receive help from them (apart from the occasional phone call where they ask you to rate your mood and then do nothing to help). I was told I have been referred to a number of mental health organizations but I have not been contacted by ANY of them.

When I was admitted to Shannon Ward due to a suicide attempt, one of the staff members told me that it is my fault for being depressed and I shouldn't ask for help from them and instead go to a private psychologist. I addition, the blanket rules instituted  I believe they are in complete violation of Mental Health Act 1983 Code of Practice (8.7).

Some staff members are actually very helpful and kind but I feel like the vast majority aren't trained very well and have a VERY short temper and their rules are absolutely nonsensical. I feel worse after being under their "care" and I regret asking for help because of this.

I am currently looking for a flat in another part of London due to the lack of care provided. I shouldn't have to do this but I have no other choice. Hopefully I will be able to receive help there.
