"Too warm"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 4 North Surgical Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I come into ED by ambulance, I already understand you have to wait a long time, but I do think ED is too small for the amount of staff and patients daily and I think bigger premises are needed. It is also extremely warm and more aircon is also needed. The staff on my ward 4 north are brilliant, no complaints at all.

Good afternoon

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion.

The department is spread over a significant floor space. Unfortunately there has been significant overcrowding this last few months, there are regularly a significant number of people delayed waiting on admission beds in the emergency department. This impacts greatly in the way the department can function. The Trust is working hard to improve this flow.

The Trust is also carrying out a significant estate project that will install modern air handling units that will improve the air temperatures. This work will take 6 months to complete.

We hope that you are continuing to improve.

Regards

Paul Smyth
