"Breastfeeding Service Downe Hospital"

About: Downe Hospital / Midwifery Unit

(as a service user),

I gave birth to my son in June 2021. I am 41 years old and it was my first child. I was really keen to breastfeed and needed extra support due to a few issues I was having. The midwives, nurses and maternity assistants from Downe Hospital were amazing. They phoned and called in person on a regular basis until I was confident with breastfeeding. One Maternity Assistant in particular (her name was Helen) was invaluable to me. She obviously genuinely cared about helping me and my son. She went above and beyond (sorry for the cliche!) to ensure that we were at ease and happy with feeding. I didn’t get a chance to say thank you to her properly but she really was nothing short of an angel!
