"Acute Care at Home is a fantastic arrangement"

About: Older People’s Services / Hospital at Home Northern Sector

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

Story told by carer of female patient aged 80+ from Derry/Londonderry area

Staff were very informative and explained the treatment clearly.  It was so important that the 89 year old patient remained at home where her husband and family could help with giving support to her emotionally and physically.  I do not think this lady would have survived being take to hospital as she had advanced dementia and the current pressures on A&E could not have delivered the individual care needed.  Acute Care at Home is a fantastic arrangement and I feel it is saving lives!

Thank you for your feedback.

Home is the best place for older people to be. Acute Care at Home Team recognises this and thus have set up this Team so that Hospital standard care can be provided at home if this becomes necessary.

People with Dementia are best cared for in their own familiar environment with those they know providing support both practically and emotionally. I am glad you found this service beneficial for your loved one.

Our staff will be very happy and encouraged to hear that the service we work so hard to provide, is helping our Older people.
