"Concerning"

About: Horizon Healthcare

My 84 year old mother was unwell so came to stay with us. She missed an appointment for blood and urine testing. Do Horizon check up on her welfare? No. They send a curt letter re a cancellation. Their care for the vulnerable is non existent.

Thank you for your feedback, unfortunately anonymous information is difficult for us to review. Please contact us through this link on the website with your mothers and your information and I can look into this in more detail for you.

Some things you need to know are, we do not have the time to follow up every appointment after the patient has not arrived as we will immediately have another patient arriving, we do try to contact vulnerable patients if the opportunity arises. If we have permission to discuss a patients health care information with a next of kin this should be registered and recorded in the patient records.

Patients are responsible for re-booking appointments they are not able to attend, not attended appointments of which we are not notified cause additional pressure on the resources which are already extremely busy.

We have a mobile phone number and you can send an SMS to notify us if your mother is not able to attend any future appointments: 07842 190 117

Appointments which are not attended waste valuable time in the NHS, I am sorry you do not like the letter sent out. We simply do not have the staff or resources to contact every patient to check up on their welfare.

If you need help with any matter relating to your mothers care please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or through the website. If you do not reside in our catchment area you can register her as a Temporary Resident at your nearest GP practice and they will be able to help with the blood tests and advise re urine sample.
