"No Personalised care needs met"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter had a baby 3.5 months ago and has been in hospital (Leicester Royal Infirmary)with the baby ever since.

She has recently moved to ward 12 where the management team have not adopted a personalised care approach. In fact it feel uncaring

My daughter has been told that she is unable to be in the hospital at the same time as her partner. The issue here is twofold. Firstly, the baby is breastfeed and currently cluster feeds so she is unable to leave him for prolonged periods of time. Secondly, her partner lives in another city and due to working hours usually stayed at the hospital Friday evening on Sunday evening to provide support for my daughter.

Their family network at this difficult time is being destroyed and my daughter’s mental well-being is severely compromised. Being on her own 24 hrs a day with a newborn is difficult. This is compounded by the fact that she has to sit in a chair all day and is unable to get a sleep during the day. The baby is also awake every 1.5 hrs at night.

I feel like my daughter will end up mentally unstable due to stress before something is done

The communication between the team is poor with one manager agreeing an approach today only to have the decision changed that afternoon or the next day

She needs help now!!!!
