I just wanted to submit a compliment to the staff at Maternity in the Ulster Hospital. I was admitted to the maternity ward for a particularly bad UTI for a week there and was anxious about being in. This is my third pregnancy. My firstborn daughter was stillborn and being in hospital when pregnant can trigger my grief. The midwives and other staff on the Maternity Ward were extremely kind, sensitive and caring and always went above and beyond to make sure I felt at ease. Even though they are extremely busy, I always felt cared for and looked after well.
In particular I would like to thank two midwives. Karen who works in outpatients who helped looked after my daughter Rosa who was stillborn, was there as a good support during my pregnancy with my second born during the pandemic when my husband couldn't attend scans and throughout this pregnancy. She always made sure I knew I wasn't alone and looked out for me when she knew I was being admitted to hospital this time. I would also like to thank Emily who was on nightshift for four nights in a row. She was always there as a listening ear, very caring and kind and professional and made sure I was well looked after even when they were so busy.
I due to go into hospital to be induced in a few days time and because of my experience in the Maternity Ward, my feelings of anxiety have eased and I know my baby, my husband and myself will be well looked after.
Thankyou so so much.
