"Brilliant treatment throughout"

My husband was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in December last year. By January 2021 he was undergoing chemotherapy which was then followed by a 6 week course of chemo radiation. The rectal tumour and liver secondaries responded well and he was referred to Basingstoke Hospital for a liver resection just three weeks ago. Within the past week we have had discussions with the Oncologist and Colorectal nurse at Dorchester who have already planned and set in motion various scans etc to assess removal of the residual rectal tumour. Throughout our journey from the time the tumour was identified via a colonoscopy my husbands treatment has been incredible. This has all happened despite the enormous pressure every person working in the NHS has endured for such a long time now as a result of the global pandemic. Every phone call, meeting, appointment has been carried out by the most amazing staff who on many occasions have gone above and beyond. I can not remember how many times we have said to each other how lucky we are to have received such incredible treatment, always delivered in such a kind and professional manner. Hopefully members of staff at Dorchester will read this and have every reason to be truly proud of the wonderful service they give to patients and relatives every single day. We have spoken to so many people who have travelled similar routes to ours under your care and confirmed that we are not the only ones who have had such brilliant treatment from the colorectal team, chemo and radiotherapy unit, CT and MRI scanning units.
