"sick of day-care services in DRC being pulled"

About: Rampton Hospital / National High Secure Healthcare Service for Women

(as the patient),

I know we are going through pandemic.

But I am sick of day-care services in DRC being pulled and the staff being moved to the wards as the wards are short. You are not providing us with the services you advertise this also goes for therapy groups too, these seem to be getting cancelled all the time. Whilst even you cancel our therapy sessions means our therapy is never getting completed which means we are here even longer. This is not fair on the patients. what’s the point doing these postings if nothing gets done and they don’t !!!

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback as Nigel says it's not easy raising difficult issues and I understand this is a very important issue for you, and for your care and treatment here. It is my responsibility to ensure that the TES team deliver their therapies and meaningful activities for patients here in the hospital and that includes the DRC.

It has been a really tough time for everyone working through the pandemic and there are also difficulties with having some staff vacancies and lots of clinical activity at the moment which does cause us some staffing issues. I do want to try and reassure you that I attend a meeting every morning with the matrons and site managers and the aim is to do it's very best to keep all activities and therapies running where we can, and will only use TES staff on the wards as a last resort. When we have to do that we also try to make sure that the TES staff are used to run activities on the ward and support you with your daily routines.

I know this is high on the agenda in the hospital to ensure safe staffing and ensure therapy happens and we are trying really hard to look at ways to improve things. I will continue to advocate for this in the meetings and make sure you get regular feedback on this in your patient forums.

Thanks again

Kay
