"Emergency admission for appendicectomy"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Accident and emergency Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / General surgery

(as a service user),

I arrived at A&E in September 2021 around 10.00am with bad pain in my stomach and right side. I was triaged at the desk and sent to the urgent care centre. There was quite a wait to be seen in the centre but as soon as the doctor examined me he arranged for me to go to SDEC. Again a longish wait here but the staff regularly checked on me and a scan was arranged. By now we were into the evening and the medical team arranged for me to go straight to theatre. Following surgery I was admitted to Collintree B ward and I can honestly say that the nursing care was of a very high standard and they were all extremely friendly and reassuring.

All in all I had a good experience from arriving at A&E to discharge from Collintree B.
