"Visiting rules should be relaxed"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department Craigavon Area Hospital / Trauma Ward

(as the patient),

The wait times in ED are crazy and far to long for medical emergencies. The trolley beds are uncomfortable especially with a broken leg. I was then moved to trauma and the staff are great. The food sometimes has a skin on top and it just repulses me. I am looking forward to getting home to get a home cooked meal. If I could improve anything it would be the wait times to be seen in ED, the wait time to be moved from ED to a ward. I would also move the position of the TV as it is behind the door so view can be restricted.

I would also allow family members who are double vaccinated and can provide a negative test to visit. I also don’t understand why the stay in ED is not included in the 1 week wait to see visitors. I have had a traumatic time and I would like to see my family and feel like I am being punished as I was in ED for 2 nights before being moved to the ward.

Dear leomq36 - thank you so much for providing this feedback and apologies for the delay in responding.

Unfortunately the wait in ED can be longer at this time due to increased demands on our service and we do appreciate that the wait time is very difficult for our patients.

We also fully appreciate how difficult it is for patients to be separated from their families due to the COVID restrictions, we do have a virtual visiting service in place, should you wish to use you can arrange a visit by calling: 07776516419
