I gave birth in the RAH Paisley in October 2021 and I cannot express my gratitude to the midwifes who led my labour and safely delivered my Son - they were real life Angels.
I firstly have to admit I am not an easy patient (understatement!) - nerves, needle phobic and a low pain threshold to name a few challenges the Midwifes faced while I was in labour. They, however, took the challengers in their stride and guided me through labour allowing me to deliver my perfect Son, without any issues. Rachel, the student Midwife, along with her mentor and supervising Midwife (regretfully I cannot remember her name) made me feel safe at my most vulnerable points during labour, especially when I genuinely did not think I was capable of delivering my baby. I made it through the trauma of labour because of their caring natures and hands on, explanatory approach - prior to the final stages of labour they took the time to explain to me what I was still to experience and how to get through the final pushing stage (this is my second baby and this advice was never given to me during my first delivery). This was so valuable and really helped me experience minimal physical trauma to my body as well as safely bringing my Son in to this world. I would also like to mention a third Midwife (another Rachel) who came in to assist during the final stage of my labour as she knew I was mentally and physically struggling with the pain. These three Women, truly deserve recognition for the outstanding care the provided me with during one of the most vulnerable points in my life. From the bottom of my heart I cannot thank them enough.
I hope this feedback makes it to your University because you will, undoubtedly, make an incredible midwife and both my husband and I wish you all the very best in your final year of studies and your career to follow.
Thank you once again to these amazing Midwifes and the NHS!
One last thing, if Rachel receives this feedback we would like to extend our gratitude by offering to fix her car (something that came up in conversation during labour) at our body shop.
