I have been getting the implant in my arm as a form of contraception for 10 years. Knowing the business of the NHS at the moment I phoned three months in advance of when I knew it was going to be changed. I have only just gotten a letter for a phone consultation, which I will be getting four months after I initially rang, and then who knows when my actual appointment will be. This is beyond a joke, by the time I get a phone consultation (I feel the only point of this being so that they can pretend they’ve actually done something to follow up), the implant will have sat in my arm for two months doing nothing. In the meantime, I will have to deal with excruciatingly painful periods, painful acne and other symptoms my implant helped manage. I appreciate the NHS has been under pressure but surely not the contraception end of it?! In my opinion, to have people waiting this long is simply ridiculous.
