"Main stream mental health services"

About: Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health

(as a service user),

What’s happening? I am alone and unable to cope, sometimes I find I have stared at nothing for hours, other times I am in so much anguish it becomes physically painful. I have tried to make it stop and take my own life but woke up. I have seen a psychiatrist and been told I would have a medication review and be treated for EUPD. That was a month ago. Yesterday I collapsed and spent 12 hours asleep. At 2am I was awake, doubled over in pain from the emotional and anguish. I spoke to an amazing young woman that helped and told me a nurse would call today. I am still in pain and frightened and desperately looking for help.

It seems the standard answer is someone will call. The front line teams, urgent response, receptionist and crisis are brilliant, I just wish the main stream mental health services were as good. How long do I have to wait for treatment because I’m not sure how much longer I can hang on. Meds aren’t working and I have no one to help me.
