I was admitted by ambulance from Wells-by the-Sea on 15 October suffering with smoke and fire extinguisher powder inhalation with low blood Oxygen levels, hypothermia and shock. I was ECG and X -rayed.
I was using oxygen from the admittance in A & E until the morning of my release after 3 days.
I was amazed at the quality and care provided by all of the staff in ALL departments. Especially on Necton Ward. The food was better than some hotels I have resided in, always a good portion, hot and tasty with a good selection.
The ward seemed understaffed however the staff coped admirably considering the volume of work they had to perform.
My ONLY criticism is the amount of time the poor nursing staff waste almost hourly attempting to pull the concertina curtains around the beds. It wastes HOURS of their time. I would highly recommend a silicon or similar lubricant is added to the sliders and tracks. They jam so badly the curtains are tearing and becoming damaged.
I was particularly touched when a nurse made me some toast and a coffee at 4:00 am in the casualty ward!
Overall an excellent experience; so many thanks for a very grateful patient.
"Amazing care and food"
