"Telephonist needs better training "

About: Tennyson House Surgery

I rang the surgery mid morning, spent approx 30 mins in the queue, when my call was answered I explained that was having an asthma attack, had run out of my relief inhaler and that I needed an emergency prescription for asthma, I was told by the receptionist that there were no appointments telephone or face to face, I could either ring back in the morning, be pre booked for the end of the week or go to a&e. Rather than turn up at a&e I thought I’d try 111, I was called back by a nurse, who went through all the clinical info and told me that as my GP surgery was still open she would book me a telephone appointment, as they have a duty of care to treat etc etc. 2 hours later the doctor phoned, acknowledging that I did actually need the emergency meds and promptly issued a prescription. It just shameful that it took phoning 111 to get anything done.
