About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Day Medicine

I was recently diagnosed with hemochromatosis and my treatment would involve venesection appointments every 2 weeks. 

Given typical experience of healthcare provision, I had low expectations of what the venesection service would be like. For example, I was anticipating it would be difficult to find a suitable appointment (to fit around work and family), appointments would involved hours of waiting around and may be cancelled at short notice.

I have been delighted with the actual service provided at Day Medicine in NHS Forth Valley. There is a dedicated venesection clinic where it is easy to find a suitable appointment, it runs on time and is very quick and easy. The staff have been very friendly, helpful and professional. Thank you to both Nancy and Catherine for providing an excellent service.

When I set the service up, patient experience was very much at the heart of it.

As you say, work and family commitments are very important to everyone and we do our best to accommodate appointments to suit this.
