After having my contraceptive implant fitted almost a year ago, my periods became more frequent and lasted for around three weeks and in the fourth week I had constant spotting, so I wanted the implant removed. Having called in September and being told it would be an 18 week wait to see a doctor with no guarantee that they would agree to take it out I was very apprehensive.
When I arrived at the clinic, I felt I wasn’t greated with compassion and care by the receptionists instead, I was met with blunt responses. I was sat in a waiting room, unable to use the toilet, whilst they were whispering behind a desk. However, when the doctor arrived to collect me, he was polite and chatty and made me feel at ease. The nurse and doctor were kind and couldn’t have done much more to make the process any easier. My implant was stuck and took a while to remove but, the nurse was very caring, cleared my wound and checked if I was okay afterwards.
