I came to A&E on Saturday but was sent home and told to visit my GP. I seen my GP on Monday and he said I needed to go to the hospital. I then waited in A&E for 15 hours before I was seen.
The staff did not check on us patients in waiting rooms. We really felt abandoned in the waiting area. The shop beside A&E should be open longer so patients in A&E have food and drink. A ticket service in A&E would maybe help update patients on their waiting time or even a service that patients can be given a time slot and can call back to A&E within a 2 hour window to be seen.
The staff may feel that patients who can go home should not be in A&E but we are abandoned in the waiting area so we might as well sit at home comfortable for 16 hours instead of the waiting area. Once into A&E I was moved about between the yellow area, hallways and another area. I had to sit in a chair in the hallway for over 13 hours at one point before being moved to the ward. 3 south is very good and they look after me well. I feel that all my needs are met. The place is very clean and I feel safe.
