I used to be an addict from 1994 to 2005 when I got clean, started a new life, a new job and got married had kids, but I got made redundant in March 2020 and given a lot of redundancy money, because of covid I couldn’t do my plan of visiting places etc, I wasn’t even allowed to visit my ex wife and kids because of lockdown and the fact I share a house with others who are not related, in my boredom I made the stupid choice to buy heroin from someone who I started to notice passing my house, this quickly turned into an addiction and after 3 months I decided enough was enough.
After a few phone consultations with S2S I was quickly prescribed medication which I stuck to rigidly because I did not want to lose my life again, because of lockdown face to face visits were not possible but I had regular phone calls from my support worker and the doctor to see how I was coping, this regular contact albeit by phone was very helpful and reinforced my desire to stick with the program, I eventually found a new job after just 5 months out of work, the continued support from S2S was fantastic and I was finally clean and off all medication after 1 year, I am still in my job and still clean :-)
