"My Daddy who is recovering from COVID"

About: Enhanced Care / Acute Care at Home

(as a relative),

My 81 year old Daddy started to deteriorate from day 10-12 of a positive COVID diagnosis.  We contacted his local GP who referred him immediately to the Southern Trust Acute Care at Home team.  Within 1 hour we had 2 nurses and a registrar assessing my Daddy at home.  Over the next 3 days my Dad had seen Nurses, a Registrar and a Consultant and had a chest X-ray.  I cannot fault this service or praise the team enough.  Myself and my brothers where extremely worried and thought for sure Dad would have to be admitted to hospital.  As a very active and independent man I don't think he would have coped very well in hospital.   The fact that he had 1st rate medical care within his own home, I believe, contributed to how quickly he started to recover.

Hi Starsky,

Thanks so much for taking the time to feedback to our team after what has been a difficult time for your dad and your family. We very much appreciate this.

I am delighted that your dad was suitable for our service to treat him at home as, when appropriate, many patients do recover better in their own environment.

I will share this story with the staff and hope that your dad remains well.

Many thanks,

Yvonne
