"Fractured Wrist"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Day Surgery

(as a service user),

I fell and fractured my wrist on Sun. My experience across the various services I had contact with in the NHS in the last 3 days was magnificent. I was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Minor Injuries and the paramedics were great. Really reassuring and efficient.

The staff in Minor Injuries dealt with me promptly and efficiently and with care. Thank you to the nurses, practitioners, radiographers and porters. I had surgery at the day surgery unit at Wishaw University Hospital. My short stay was very comfortable and I felt very well attended and informed. I was impressed by the level of cleanliness. Thanks to all the doctors and consultants that attended me, and to the nurses and assistants pre and post op.

I'd particularly like to thank Vikki, who took care of me on arrival in Day Surgery, Eugene and Nora who kept me calm in pre-op and Tracy who attended to me pre discharge. Having never previously been in hospital I was a bit apprehensive about having surgery but everyone was very reassuring and kept me well informed of what was happening. Our NHS and the people who work in it are something to be cherished. My heartfelt thanks go to all who were involved in my care over the last 3 days.
