I am absolutely terrified of hospitals and even more so of injections. Being told a steroid injection into my shoulder was a recommendation had me physically shaking at even the idea. I'm painfully aware that our NHS doesn't have time but Mary today made me feel like I was the only patient she had today. I explained how I usually react to injections and she didn't make me feel silly or like an inconvenience. She even took the time to listen to why I react this way. No one has ever listened to why I'm terrified of injections.
Not only was the injection pain free, her relaxed but matter of fact manner kept me calm. Her aftercare was second to none and I felt cared for. I didn't feel like an overreacting patient because Mary not only acknowledged my fear she legitimised it and managed it effectively. Incredible service and patient care.
