Just finished my 2nd unplanned inpatient stay in 11 years. Both visits were in the cardiac unit. In 2010 I posted a review to say that the level of service was 5*. On my latest stay, first weekend of Oct 2021, I have to say that I rate the level of staff care, diligence, friendliness & professionalism way beyond the 2010 level – something I wasn’t expecting. I’m not sure how everyone manages to keep up the level of urgency & pace which seems to permeate the parts of the hospital I came into contact with this weekend. The staff all appear to get on well together and introduce themselves to us all on the ward at the start of shifts. There was one feature I thought odd this time around, however after reading the latest CQC report just before writing this, now makes more sense. I detected what I perceived to be paranoia with respect to patient safety. However, I can now see that in its proper context. I can confirm, in the area I was incarcerated, that issue exists no longer and is in the past. On a personal note, I can’t see how anyone can perform such a physically demanding job, at a pace, wearing a face mask. Without a doubt a necessity, but still must be a nightmare each shift for all staff involved. They have my complete sympathy. Rating 2021: 5* + + Well done Kettering.
