"End of life care"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 1 South Medical Craigavon Area Hospital / Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

My husband received end of life care in AMU, care was very good. He was transferred to 1 South , communication was not so good. Very difficult to get through to the ward on the phone. I went to the ward but was not allowed in, tried to ring my husband on his mobile phone but  line went dead. I was contacted by the doctor a short time later to say my husband had died. I wouldn't want this to happen to any other family. Is there some way to avoid this for other families, could a sticker be put on medical notes to say that the patient is at end of life care and is allowed to have family visiting.
