"Doctor/patient interaction via e consult option"

About: Haworth Medical Practice

The present system is not a proper or effective consultation. The patient has limited facility for describing his/her symptoms in writing and so the

response from the doctor is literally based on how well you have described your symptoms and concerns. Also, if you want to correct the doctor’s assumptions or provide more information it is not possible to do so without logging on again, and waiting for another day.

Dear Mr Byrne

I am so very sorry that you found our e consult service less than ideal when you used it. This service is meant as a non urgent method of contacting a clinician and we do understand that it is limited in it's ability to convey all information you would like the GP to know.

There is a section on the e consult form where you can request a GP to call you regarding your condition. In this instance the GP will call you back and discuss your symptoms in person. As a non urgent conduit, this may take up to 3 working days.

If you wish to discuss this any further with me, please contact me via e mail awcmodality.complaints@nhs.net, and I will be very happy to assist you in whatever way I can.

Many thanks for taking the time to contact us via NHS Choices.

Kind Regards

Linda Thomas
