"One recovery service for methadone"

About: One Recovery Bucks / High Wycombe

(as a service user),

I cant fault this service at all.   My problem is working full time and where I work is really under staffed at the moment and for the foreseeable future.   Which means daily pick up is almost impossible, the only reason I haven't been booted of script is I can collect on my days off wed and sat therefore I dont go longer than the 3 days which is not allowed.   I really dont know what to do, give up my job or tell them the dirty truth. I think I'd get on alot better working part time and having the time to collect my script daily, and stop putting so much pressure on myself. I have done some online groups which I find informative but at the end of a long busy day I find it hard to want to engage.

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Not knowing your details I cant comment on your current prescribing regime but I hear you are in a very challenging situation trying to balance collections and work. What I would strongly advice is that you contact your keyworker and discuss your concerns who will discuss with one of our prescribers to ascertain if it is safe to lower collections days for you, following NICE guidance.

Please get in touch with your keyworker and take extra care on the days you are not collecting your methadone dose, if you are using illicitly.

Take care,

Tracy

Hi Tracy

Thank you very much for replying, your reply was very helpful.

I did talk to my keyworker about it and they advised I'd have to give a clean test before I could pick up 3 days a week instead of every day. Which to be fair wasn't very helpful. I do realise one recovery have their rules. I've been using every day for many years and have never overdosed by accident or on purpose, I'm very careful.

Thank you again Tracy, I'll try and have another conversation with my keyworker but I'm not feeling much hope there.

Many thanks.
