"Awful handling of different clinician opinions"

About: Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Having had a wonderful (considering nasty treatment) experience with all staff in 2020. Returning (as directed to) in 2021 I was barely given a thorough review, treated with zero empathy and very abruptly with little rational explanation. Asking for a second opinion now leaving me with a three month wait when clinic appointments are available on a 4 week rotation and I bookies the return appointment barely a week in advance of its occurrence. Extremely upsetting for someone battling a very difficult to manage, long term health condition and sadly totally due to practitioners people skills, because the mechanics and my previous experience of the department have been wonderful. I understand that different opinions happen and treatment can change, but having had it dealt with so poorly is unacceptable.

Good morning

Thank you for your review and we are so sorry to hear of your experience at your recent appointment. This is not the experience we expect our patients to have and we would welcome speaking with you to enable us to take this forward with the department concerned. If possible please can you contact the Patient Advice and Liason Service by emailing pals@mkuh.nhs.uk or alternatively call 01908 995954, if you receive the answer machine message please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible, there is only 1 line into the office and if the line is being used the call will be directed to the answer machine.

We hope to hear from you to enable us to take learning from your experience so this does not happen again.

Thank you

The Patient and Family Experience team
