Attended A&E at Dewsbury- brilliant triage service and could not fault the care received by them two weeks ago and extremely pleased with their quick referral for the HOT clinic at Pinderfields to find a diagnosis.
However, attended A&E on 13/9/2021 at 11pm, after spending the day at pinderfields already for an appointment. There were hardly any patients in or staff for that matter. Waited an hour for observations, to be told it could be up to a 3 hour wait. Appeared to be only 1/2 drs working and after 5 hours of about 4 people being called in and no staff to ask… most people were getting fed up. Nobody updated anyone about the wait time or explained why since there was hardly anyone around, patient wise. Nearly every patient called in were in for at least 45 mins to an hour at a time. In the end, I ended up asking the reception team at 4.15am how long the wait time was to be told that there were still 3 people ahead of me, which potentially meant a further 3 hour wait.
I feel that the service could have been greatly improved, to have a few more staff members working through the triage process and by keeping people updated throughout the service provided.
