"Care in Ambulance, A&E and Ward 33 VHK, Fife."

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Victoria Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I fell on Friday night 10/9/21 dislocating my ankle and fracturing my leg. After initially waiting 3hours for ambulance support I received excellent care from Sheona and Nikki who escorted me to hospital.

Thank you so much to you both, you were amazing. On arriving at hospital I received further excellent care from the A&E Dr Debbie who explained everything really clearly offering reassurance the whole way. She was supported by Jenna and Micha the staff nurses who were both fantastic.
From here everyone has been brilliant, radiographers, porters, physio’s, Dr’s, The Theatre team, and every single member of staff on ward 33, you were all so lovely, nothing was to much trouble, you showed kindness and compassion throughout despite knowing how busy I know you all are. Special thanks also to Taylor the student nurse on ward 33, you were fab.
My care has been excellent, the only disappointing area of my experience was the wait for the ambulance, I say this not as a complaint but in support of the ambulance service for more resource. I was on a street for 3 hours in extreme pain, I know nobody wants that, it was traumatic and I urge anyone who doesn’t truly need an ambulance please do not call one to allow them to get to those most in need.
Thank you all for your care, you were all fantastic. Xxx

Dear Cheetahze43,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I am so so sorry that you had to wait 3 hours for the ambulance but I am touched at the understanding you have in regards to the significant and sustained pressure we are finding ourselves in. I am also grateful for the advice you give and I echo to all, please only call 999 in the case of an emergency and consider pharmacy's, GPs and NHS24 if there is no threat to life or limb.

It is so lovely to read that the care you received was so positive. The staff have clearly made an impact and it is so nice that you remember everyone's name. I will pass this across to the management team in fife to identify the staff and tell them they have done a great job.

I hope you are feeling better and are on the road to a full recovery and thanks very much again!

Kind Regards

Alan
