"Gall stones"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / General surgery

(as a service user),

Last year I was diagnosed with gall stones and put on the waiting list for an operation. After hearing nothing for a few months I was contacted by someone in the NHS asking if I would be prepared to travel to a private hospital for the operation. I said I would be grateful of the opportunity, as the pain is sometimes unbearable. I was told that the hospital chosen would be in contact within 4 weeks. Here we are 4 months later and still nothing. However last month, I was contacted by a message saying I was to have a phone appointment in early September. So after waiting for the day I was again disappointed when the Surgeon called me, only to tell me they had nothing to tell me, and only asked after my wellbeing. Whilst I point no blame in their direction (after all they could be operating on me) I am finding the whole experience totally frustrating. I am no closer to my operation and I am still in a lot of discomfort and pain.

Dear ospreykk66

We want you to know that we are very grateful for your feedback; unfortunately our services are under significant pressure at the moment with many staff redeployed from their usual roles to help out and this is likely to mean a delay in our response. We apologise for this but want to assure you we will come back to you. Thank you again.

Jennie
