I came into the hospital last Wednesday after being in a lot of pain at home. I called for an ambulance to take me in, and I couldn't praise the service enough. I was only waiting for around 10 minutes thankfully for the ambulance to arrive and the two paramedics who came to me were so so good. They made sure I was comfortable and reassured me and my husband that they would get me to the care I needed. I trusted them and they put my thoughts at ease throughout the journey to the hospital.
When I arrived in A&E I didn't need to wait long which I was extremely happy about. The staff, both medical and nursing, were so good to me and immediately got me the pain relief I needed. I felt everything was being communicated to me very well and I knew I could trust the staff looking after me.
I was then taken up to 4 south that evening. Up on this ward I have been made so comfortable and the staff are just amazing. All my questions are answered and I admire how competent each staff member has been. I am so happy with the hygiene of the ward and feel the domestic staff need more recognition as they really are doing everything they can to make the ward a clean place.
As a patient I know all my needs are being met as just last night for example, I was so cold and couldn't sleep, when I called on one of the care assistants they immediately offered me an extra blanket and sat and chatted with me for a while until I felt more tired. Its just the simple things like this that make my experience in here much better. Everyone so far has been so helpful and I can't suggest any improvements for any element of the hospital or the staff, I feel my experience so far has been as good as it possibly can be and I am grateful to be in such safe hands.
