"Phone consultation 1 hour and 10 mins late"

About: Wychbury Medical Group

I had a phone appointment booked today for 4.30pm. It got to 5pm and still nobody had called me, so I called the practice to find out if my appointment was still going ahead. Eventually the GP did call me but it was at 5.40pm, an hour and 10 minutes late. I can understand them running a little late, especially at the end of the day, but more than an hour is not really on, especially as there was no communication about the delay either. Luckily I did not have any plans after my appointment today, but had the appointment been booked earlier on in the day, perhaps during my lunch break at work for example, then I simply would not have been able to attend if it was over an hour late and would have had no choice but to miss it and re-book. As a working person with a busy life I cannot simply sit around waiting like this. Had it been the other way around, with me being over an hour late to my appointment, it most likely would have been cancelled and marked as DNA.

Dear Patient,

I apologise for the delay you experienced. Doctors can run behind if they have had to deal with a poorly patient. If you would like us to investigate your concerns further please contact the surgery and I'd be happy to speak to you.

Kind regards

Sarah Reid, Practice Manager
