"A small act of kindness"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Thankyou to the staff in Craigavon ED, especially Christine on Reception, Patricia the Ward Clerk, Sr Rachel and Bernadine the nurse.

We attended recently with my daughter who was being admitted to RBHSC with a displaced arm fracture that was diagnosed and treated in Minor injuries but needed to stop off at Craigavon ED for a PCR before we could be admitted. When we arrived she was in agony and as it is not possible to drop off at the doors of Paediatric ED due to the barrier. I would have had to get her out of the car and walk to ED and she was in too much pain for this. Not being able to drop off at the door when a child is so much pain is something that needs could be looked at.

Instead of having to get her out of the car, Bernadine came out to us and done her PCR. We are so thankful they looked after us so well, and kept her pain to a minimum. It was extremely busy and staff appeared to be under serious pressure but this small act of kindness is appreciated so much. She had surgery to have pins inserted and is on the mend now.

I am so thankful for the excellent staff in CAH ED, who are working so hard, in very pressurised circumstances, they don’t get enough credit for what they do. Thank you so much for all your help.

Hi Nicola,

Thank you taking the time to write this story via care opinion.

It is lovely to read that you had a positive experience through our emergency department. I will make sure and share your story with my colleagues in the ED.

I hope your little girl continues to improve.

Kind Regards

Lisa
