"Cramped conditions at Orthotic Dept"

About: Victoria Hospital / Appliance & Orthotics

(as a service user),

In August, I attended the Appliance & Orthotic Service Department at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, to collect a pair of shoes which I had previously been measured for. I was attended to by Jackie, who was the epitome of professionalism with a caring personality. However i found the treatment room to be rather cramped especially for wheelchair users whom I am one. In fact the phrases " not enough room to swing a cat " and "broom cupboard " come to mind. I would not like to work in such conditions which could become claustrophobic. Surely such a new and prestigious hospital as the Victoria can find better facilities both for the patients and staff which would be a benefit to both.

Dear AuldWull,

Thank you for sharing your experience on Care Opinion, I am pleased to hear how professional and caring you found Jackie, I will share this with her.

We are aware of challenges with the room size and are exploring other options. Please be assured you comments will be taken into account and used to support future changes in the department.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
