"Another appointment cancelled"

About: Rochdale Infirmary / Rheumatology

(as a service user),

I posted a story on Care opinion some time ago regarding the Rheumatology dept at Fairfield hospital. I received a response from a consultant who informed me that I would have an appointment at Rochdale Hospital in August.

I rang the appointment line to confirm that I still had this appointment and was told that it had been cancelled. Nobody notified me regarding this either by telephone or letter, my son who was taking a day off work to take me to this appointment so if I hadn’t telephoned we would have had a wasted journey and he would have lost a days work.

This is totally unacceptable that nobody contacted us to tell us that my appointment had been cancelled.

I also had a appointment for a Phone consultation a week earlier which was also cancelled, the reason given was circumstances beyond their control. I was informed that I would receive another appointment but up until now I have not.

So I had two appointments cancelled within a matter of weeks. It seems now I am never going to get appointment regarding the problem with my knee, I have not heard anything from Rochdale hospital regarding a new appointment either by telephone or letter. It seems to me now I have to be a mind reader because nobody contacts about any appointments.

I have completely given up now so I will just carry on in pain as I have done for the last year or so.
