"My experience in A&E and 4 north ward of CAH"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 4 North Surgical Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I was taken into hospital last Thursday via ambulance. The ambulance crew were amazing and came so quick. They administered pain relief as soon as they could and made sure I was comfortable in my surroundings, I was being reassured on my journey to hospital by the ambulance crew and this made my experience so much better, I cant thank the crew enough. When I then arrived in A&E I was thankfully seen immediately by the staff and was being kept updated and informed regularly. The Staff were so helpful and made sure all my questions were answered. The Quality of care provided in A&E was outstanding as even in the busy, hectic environment staff did all they could to meet my needs.

Now up on 4 north I am still so impressed with the standard of care I have witnessed. Both the medical and nursing teams are so competent in the care they provide and ensure to listen to my views and opinions meanwhile keeping me informed. I have so much trust in the staff on the ward and know I will get better here. I am comfortable and feel so safe in my surroundings. Communication is amazing up on this ward, and even during handover all staff members are kept in the loop. The cleanliness is impeccable and its a credit to the domestic staff, no matter what the time the toilet facilities are as clean as they can be. I am grateful for the blue curtain as it offers me privacy and comfort when I need some time alone and think it is a great way to break up space, and maintain dignity. I am upset visitors aren't allowed onto the ward but I have been able to use the internet which has excellent connection to facetime home to my family. The teamwork I have observed has been amazing and I really feel the staff do their very best to meet all my physical and mental needs. I can suggest no improvements at all and am so content with the care I have received.

Dear Keeen88

Thank you soo much for sharing your positive experience and kind compliments for the staff who attended to you during your recent emergency.

It boosts morale to hear you have made a difference to someone during their own personal crisis and the crew will be delighted to hear you felt they excelled with their treatment and care. It is heartwarming to hear that both their clinical treatment and their calm and reassuring manner helped to reduce your pain and make you comfortable during your crisis.

I would appreciate the ability to locate the crew and share your compliments with them however to do this I would require a few extra details of the actual event. If you would be happy to discuss, please contact me on amanda.sweetlove@nias.hscni.net

I hope you have a full and speedy recovery.

Kind regards

Amanda
