"My care"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Cancer Services North Devon District Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I must say how well informed I was kept with the progress of my prostate cancer.  If I was going to make an observation (not a complaint) I  would say the CT scan could be better.  I think that all patients should be warned of the warming sensation you get in the lower bladder area. So that know it is as if you have wet yourself. Also waiting over 2 weeks to get the full report appears to be an excessive period of time.

Once the reports were made available to the urologist he discussed and explained the options to me so that I  could make an informed choice on what treatment "I wanted".

Tracey & Cath have also been a great support for me and are always available when I  need them.

Helen who runs a support group is also there whenever you feel you might need someone.

Dear The Snail

Thank you for leaving feedback on the care you have received at our hospital. I am pleased you felt well informed on the progress of your treatment pathway with regard to your prostate cancer. Thank you also for bringing to our attention your thoughts on how the CT scan could be improved with regards to having further information on what to expect during the scan. I will feed this back to the radiology department. I also apologise for what you feel to be an excessive time to wait for the CT scan report. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic a lot of our services are under huge pressure with backlogs etc and this also includes the reporting of radiology results. However, I am pleased to know that as soon as your urologist received the report your treatment could move forward. I am also pleased that you found our Urology Nurse Specialists, Tracey & Cath, and Helen, our Urology Support Worker, a great support for you. I will pass your feedback onto them all. I wish you well for your continuing treatment at NDDH.

Thank you again for taking the time and trouble to leave your feedback.

Kind regards

Paula
