I have Leukaemia and recently had to attend three departments at Wythenshawe hospital in quick succession all as an emergency.
ENT and then a few weeks later Casualty and from there; the Medical Assessment Unit ..Ward A10...The service I received from all three departments was superb..The Casualty attendance was for a life threatening condition...Sudden onset Chest Pain, dizzyness and tachycardia..I cannot congratulate the EMTs, Doctors, Nurses and Consultants I saw, enough. Ditto for the Medical Assessment Unit, doctors, nurses and ancillaries, including the emergency Radiology staff.. Wonderful in such troubled times.
The only negative issue was 6 days of misery from a most painful Covid Nasal "Swab!" an experience I never intend to experience again and will never ever again allow anyone other than myself, to stick anything sharp and pointed up my precious nose!!! The pain discomfort and discharge are now all resolving, but worth mentioning if only to remind others to take their own swabs, if willing and able.
All in all, I cannot believe how good the service was, and am personally writing to all involved with my stay on a named basis to tell them how appreciated their unconditional care and attention to detail was. I had read much that the NHS was failing, and can with hand on heart say I saw zero evidence of any gaps at all.
Thanks again to all involved in helping me to achieve my Ambition of dying from a surprise... NOT anything I attend a doctor or hospital over!
"A Wonderful Display of the NHS at its Best!"
